Believe it or not, Quentin Tarantino – the director of “Kill Bill,” “Pulp Fiction,” “Death Proof” and the highly-anticipated “Inglourious basterds” is a fan of American Idol. The obsessive kind of fan. In fact, he will be appearing on tonight’s (April 14) episode of the singing contest as the guest mentor for “Idols at the Movies” week.

Last year’s American Idol champ David Cook has canceled two of his shows for his national university tour – one scheduled at the Colby Sawyer College in New London (Monday) and the other at the Connecticut University in New Haven (Tuesday).

The contestants of American Idol’s season 8 headed to Studio A, the room at the Motown Historical Museum, which used to be the Motown Records hit-making factory. Since the contestants will be singing Motown classics on Wednesday, March 25, they worked with label founder Berry Gordy Jr. and legendary singer Smokey Robinson on their chosen songs.

Last Thursday, American Idol semi-finals closed after the wild card round saw four – not three – additions to the 6 top contestants voted earlier. For the first time in American Idol history, thirteen contestants will compete for the spot of the next “idol.”
