Two days before the anticipated season finale of “American Idol” and the final two contenders Kris Allen and Adam Lambert want to remind their fans of one thing: don’t get too personal.

Manila, Philippines- David Cook and David Archuleta, the two Davids who battled last year’s “American Idol” crown were no exceptions in swine flu checks.

Akron, Ohio- “American Idol 7″ winner David Cook was busy doing concerts for almost a week after his brother Adam passed away during the weekend. In Ohio however, the “Idol” was no longer able to hold back his emotions.

Washington, D.C.- Singer David Cook’s older brother passed away on Saturday due to brain cancer, a disease he battled for almost 11 years.

Last year’s American Idol champ David Cook has canceled two of his shows for his national university tour - one scheduled at the Colby Sawyer College in New London (Monday) and the other at the Connecticut University in New Haven (Tuesday).

David Cook isn’t afraid about speaking out. This time, he’s talking about how fame can be ‘not’ so good, especially if you’re a very private person and fans have walked over ‘the’ line. Last year’s American Idol champion has issued a plea for his privacy while he’s on tour.
Although this season of American Idol lacks talent, the ones who’ve made it last season are off to a good start in their careers. Just look at the two Davids - David Archuleta and David Cook, who both announced separate tour dates to begin next month.

Unlike other American Idol winners, David Cook has made a huge deal with American Idol as he stars in a promotional TV spot for the 2009 season of the hit show. The rocker Idol has already filmed the first American Idol TV promo that showcased a former winner of the show – a first-time marketing strategy for American Idol.
Fox marketing chief Joe Earley told TV week that the ad starts with Cook about to go on-stage to perform his newest single “Light On”, followed by images of his post-Idol life dealing with paparazzi, Hollywood parties and limo-riding. The singer will then be seen lying on a bed as he recalls his experiences throughout the American Idol competition with a clip from his wins. The footage ends when Abdul asks him “”Are you the next ‘American Idol’?” and he steps on stage to start singing.
This TV promo will start to air this Thanksgiving weekend to promote the eight season of Idol, which is set to start on January 13. According to Earley, this is the first time American Idol has featured the champion from the last season and added that it will continue in the years to come, explaining, “We’re looking at doing some spots with some other past ‘Idol’ contestants.”

David Cook, who just released his self-titled album today, explains why he finds it easy to date ex-American Idol constestant Kimberly Caldwell, who got booted off out of the singing competition’s Season 2.
The 25-year-old Cook explains to People Magazine at the ‘Do the Wright Thing Gala’ Hard Rock in New York, “I think she just gets that this is all nuts. She’s a nice break from the chaos.”
26-year-old Kimberly also has a music career of her own, after releasing two singles earlier this year. David Cook, who confirmed May that he was indeed dating Caldwell, says they have no plans for a duet single yet.
The two look good together, but I just don’t think a duet is necessary. Let them have their own careers. Check out the latest pictures of these two American Idol stars.

Saturday Night Live has been a hit these past weeks because of the Palin skits and campaign-related jokes, but when Sarah Palin made an appearance last month, it was the highest rating SNL received this year with about 14 million viewers tuned in.
On Saturday, SNL featured the real John McCain and the show pulled a 9.0 overnight ratings, about 15% lower than the episode of Palin’s appearance. Of course, the SNL skits won’t be complete without Tina Fey acting as Palin. While the ratings wasn’t too good for McCain with only 12 million viewers, SNL can’t complain.
With Ben Affleck hosting the show and David Cook making his first appearance since American Idol to promote his self-titled album to be released on November 18. Cook sang his first single, “Leave a Light On” and received plenty of raves from fans. I wouldn’t be shocked if Cook had something to do with the SNL’s Saturday ratings.
