Power couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were making headlines the past few weeks thanks to breakup rumors spread by UK’s The News of the World. After getting tired of denying these allegations, Brad and Angie have done a big step against the paper: they’re going to court.

Hollywood’s most powerful pair are filing legal action against the British tabloid, after claiming that they had met with a divorce lawyer and are on the process of dividing their properties and custody of their six kids, Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Vivienne and Knox.

The heads of the Jolie-Pitt family filed a complaint at the London High Court to proceed a case against the paper, says their lawyer Keith Schillings.

“The News of the World has failed to meet our clients’ reasonable demands for a reaction of and apology for these false and intrusive allegations which have now been widely republished by mainstream news outlets,” says Schillings in a statement. “We have advised them to bring proceedings which they have now done.”

Meanwhile, the divorce lawyer which the paper cited in the divorce rumors, Sorrel Trope, says that he had never been in contact with Pitt or Jolie. “I have never met your… clients or had any involvement with either of them. The foregoing is true with respect to all other members of this firm.”

Dismiss all those rumors today: Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are just as sweeter as ever while on a night out together.

Hollywood’s powerful couple, who has been bugged by breakup gossip for the past few weeks, was spotted together looking all too affectionate at the Directors Guild of America Awards in Los Angeles.

This event marked Brad and Angelina’s first public appearance together in more than one month. They were present in the ceremony since Brad was assigned to present an award to “Inglourious Basterds” director, Quentin Tarantino.

Angelina wore an asymmetrical green Elie Saab gown and gold hoop earrings, which made her look attractive particularly to her partner’s eyes. They even cuddled and whispered things together during the awards show.

Despite this unusually affectionate evening, sources continue to state that their relationship is going on the rocks, mainly because Angelina feels that she’s taking sole parental responsibility of their six children, Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, and twins Vivienne and Knox.

During the past week rumors about power couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie splitting up have spread like a virus, but according to close friends, these are not true.

The breakup reports have surfaced during the weekend at the UK tabloid News of the World, where it was said that Brad and Angelina have already set to divide their earnings and share custody of their six kids, who will be living with Angie.

Sources meanwhile have told Access Hollywood and People that “everything is fine” with the couple. Perez Hilton also claims that a rep for Brangelina denied the rumors.

Brangelina, as they have been tagged, have been living together since 2005, after Brad split up with then wife, Jennifer Aniston. Since then they have adopted three kids from different parts of the globe, and as well share three biological children together.

The couple was last seen together with their four oldest children to watch a Broadway matinee performance of “Mary Poppins” in New York City. Angelina has just finished her latest flick, “Salt,” that’s due for release on summer 2010.

George Clooney’s “Hope for Haiti” Telethon proved to be a success, both in raising funds and rekindling old flames, such as Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston.

The former couple found their way to each other at Friday’s telethon. The once power pair separated back in 2005 after five years of marriage, and since then it was only the second time when they saw each other again.

The first was in last year’s Academy Awards, where Jen presented an award while Brad and partner Angelina Jolie were seated in the audience. At that time, they didn’t cross each other’s paths.

This time however, they reunited in Los Angeles for the said telethon, together with a string of A-list stars in Los Angeles, New York and London.

Angelina meanwhile was not at the event. Rather, she was in New York prepping up for her Vanity Fair shoot.

What happens when a star’s celebrity status actually “overshadows” the product he or she endorses? As the case of Angelina Jolie and the knitwear label St. John, the company chose to bid farewell to the A-list celeb.

Angie will no longer be part of the brand’s ads anymore, as according to sources, her contract with the company has already expired since 2008.

St. John CEO Glenn McMahon also expressed his views on why the company removed the high-profile star, stating that Angie “overshadowed the brand.”

“We wanted to make a clean break from actresses and steer away from blondes and cleanse the palette.”

The company made it clear however that they and Angie are “all on good terms.”

Maddox, Zahara and Shiloh Jolie-Pitt are set to be $100,000 richer when they turn 25.

The late actress Marcheline Bertrand, Angie’s mother who died of cancer in 2007, left the three kids a hefty six-figure sum each in a trust fund.

Newborn twins Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline lose out because they were not born yet when the will was last updated; so as Pax, as he wasn’t adopted yet at that time.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are sharing job this holiday season as the couple donated $100,000 to foster care organization.

The A-list couple donated $100,000 to the American SOS Children’s Villages, an alternative foster care organization with locations in Florida and Illinois.

The 34-year-old Jolie said in a statement, “We have seen firsthand the remarkable job SOS does to raised orphaned and abandoned children and keep families together. No one “ages out” of an SOS Village. Vocational training, advanced education, living assistance and more support are there forever.”

SOS Children’s Villages CEO Heather Paul said the couple were longtime supporters of the organization and thanked them in a statement that read: “We are deeply grateful that this year they have included in their generosity our villages in Illinois and Florida and our 300 children who call SOS ‘home.’ In this holiday season, many of us take for granted that we are surrounded by loving family members. The poor outcomes for foster children indicate that we must do a much better job of supporting them.”

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have designed a limited-edition collection of gold and silver snake jewelry and accessories called “The Protector” for high-end jeweler Asprey .

The couple has been working on the bling for over a year. Their pieces will go on sale this week at various Asprey stores around the world, including London, New York, Beverly Hills, Tokyo and Dubai. Prices start at $525 for the silver baby spoon with a serpent-shaped handle (pictured below).

Other items in the collection include an eggcup, tooth box and picture frame, as well as gold and diamond pendants and rings – all of them featuring curving snakes.

Jolie, 34, was given a ring in the shape of a snake while pregnant with Shiloh and considers the reptile a protector of her family. Pitt, however, has a history of designing jewelry – Years ago, Brad designed Jen Aniston’s and his rings for their wedding.

Proceeds from the sale of the collection go to Education Partnership for Children of Conflict, co-founded by Jolie in 2006. Jolie said of the charity, “These are the children who most need a safe place to learn, a place to heal, a place to learn reconciliation, a place to build a better future and a place — to just be children. Yet the education for these children is often forgotten. Tens of millions of children and adolescents in conflict are not in school.”

Angelina Jolie is reportedly in talks to star in the new Ridley Scott-directed film “Gucci.”

According to Variety, the film revolves around the heyday of the Gucci fashion empire in the 70s and 80s. A real-life drama occurred within the Gucci family, which began when Gucci founder Guccio’s grandson Maurizio Gucci took over the company. Just before re-launching the brand under designer Tom Ford, he was killed in front of his Milan apartment in 1995.

If things go smoothly with the talks, Angelina Jolie will be playing Patrizia Reggiano, who was convicted of plotting Maurizio’s murder and was sentenced to 29 years in jail. Once every character has been signed, 20th Century Fox would like “Gucci” to become Scott’s next film with production beginning in 2010.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie ranked #8 on Vanity Fair’s 2009 “New Establishment” list, making them the only actors to qualify in the top 10.

Alongside Wall Street politicians and tycoons, the A-list couple/humanitarians was included on Vanity Fair’s annual list of the most influential people in society and pop culture. The list, which was released on Friday, included Salma Hayek’s husband Francis-Henri Pinault in the 20th spot.

Other celebrities included in the list are Bono (#34), Tom Hanks (#35), Oprah Winfrey and George Clooney (shared the #39th spots), Robert DeNiro (#47), and Arnold Schwarzenegger (on #49). A new name on the list is Twilight Saga author Stephenie Meyer, who had an overnight success with her vampire series, and was ranked #82.
