Brie Larson is in talks to star as tennis player Billie Jean King, replacing Emma Stone who dropped out of “Battle of the Sexes” due to conflict of schedules.

If negotiations pushed through, Brie Larson will be playing Billie Jean King, opposite Steve Carell’s Bobby Riggs.

The movie is inspired by a true event in 1973 in which Riggs battled King in a tennis match known as “Battle of the Sexes”. King was 29 years old when she beat 55-year-old former Wimbledon champion Riggs.

“Battle of the Sexes” is set to be helmed by Little Miss Sunshine team of Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris, who worked with Carrell and almost teamed up with Brie Larson for the film adaptation of Matthew Quick’s The Good Luck of Right Now.

Brie Larson recently appeared in the comedy film “Trainwreck” and her new film “Room.” She will also appear alongside Tom Hiddleston in “Skull Island.”
