Rebecca Ferguson is reportedly leading Marvel’s list of playing Carol Danvers a.k.a. Captain Marvel.
The ‘Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation’ actress is leading the pack of actresses to star in the film. Previous reports included big names like Jessica Chastain, Bryce Dallas Howard, Katheryn Winnick and Charlize Theron.
While there is no report whether Rebecca Ferguson is currently in talks or if an offer has been made, she was also considered as the female lead in “Gambit,” but she opted to play Anna in “The Girl on the Train (2017)” with Emily Blunt.
“Captain Marvel” will center on the U.S. Air Force pilot Danvers whose DNA was fused with an alien after an accident and who subsequently becomes the hero known as Captain Marvel, and as part of the Avengers.
“Captain Marvel,” which is expected to arrive in U.S. theaters in 2018, will be produced by Kevin Feige with a script written by Nicole Perlman (“Guardians of the Galaxy”) and Meg LeFauve (“Inside Out (2015)”).
