Despite ranting over not being nominated for Video of the Year, Nicki Minaj still collaborated with MTV and has now been announced as an opener for this year’s MTV VMAs.
The singer was announced as a performer at the forthcoming event just weeks after she criticized MTV for snubbing her ‘Anaconda’ from the Video of the Year category.
Apparently, Nicki Minaj will be the opener for the event on Sunday, August 30 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California. MTV announced the news on Thursday, August 27 with an Instagram post of a sonogram.
This marks Nicki’s second time in a row to perform at the annual event. Last year, she took the stage for “Anaconda” as well as her collaborative hit with Jessie J and Ariana Grande, “Bang Bang”.
This year, Minaj joins The Weeknd, Pharrell Williams, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Demi Lovato, Tori Kelly, A$AP Rocky and Justin Bieber as fellow performers.
