Bryan Cranston has signed on to play opposite James Franco in an upcoming 20th Century Fox comedy entitled “Why Him?”
The Emmy and Tony-award winning actor will be playing a Midwestern dad who taunts Franco (a tech billionaire who dates Cranston’s daughter) in the comedy directed by John Hamburg.
On “Why Him?,” Bryan Cranston will travel with his family to visit his daughter in college, only to find out he has to compete for her affection with the boyfriend.
James Franco couldn’t be more psyched for the collaboration. He took to Instagram to post the message: “Could not be more excited to work with my man, WALTER WHITE!!!!”
John Hamburg is directing the film and co-writing the script with “Zoolander” scriptwriter Ian Helfer. Ben Stiller is attached as producer alongside Shawn Levy.
Aside from this comedy project, Bryan Cranston and Franco are also working together in a film adaptation of John Steinbeck’s “In Dubious Battle,” which is Franco directing and producing.
