Lauryn Hill will be featured in an upcoming Netflix documentary about Simone Nina, entitled “What Happened, Miss Simone?”
The former Fugees member will cover the 1965 song “Feeling Good,” which is one of a compilation set planned to accompany the documentary. Hill’s version was shared online earlier this week. (Check it out below)
Rolling Stone reports that Lauryn Hill was supposed to cover only two songs for the album, but ended up with six. She told Rolling Stone: “Because I fed on this music, both hers and lovers like her, like my basic food, I believed I always had a right to have a voice. Her example is clearly a form of sustenance to a generation needing to find theirs. What a gift.”
Other artists featured on the compilation entitled “Nina Revisited: A Tribute to Nina Simone” include Mary J. Blige, Usher, Common, Gregory Porter, Jazmine Sullivan and Simone’s daughter Lisa Simone. It is scheduled to come out by July 10, while the documentary premieres on June 26.
