Simon Pegg, the actor who played Scotty in the previous two ‘Star Trek’ movies, is taking a back seat for the third film and reportedly working on the script with Doug Jung for the Justin Lin-directed project.
The actor, who who played Scotty in 2009’s “Star Trek” and its sequel “Star Trek Into Darkness”, has signed on for script-writing duties for the upcoming “Star Trek 3.” Deadline.com reports that he is working alongside Doug Jung (“Dark Blue”) on penning the film.
If you’re not a fan of Simon Pegg yet, you have to check out his other films. The actor has been writing successful films for years. He wrote the 2004 “Shaun of the Dead”, 2007’s “Hot Fuzz” and 2013’s “The World’s End” with Edgar Wright.
Justin Lin took over director duties for Star Trek 3 after Roberto Orci left the project, although Orci remains as one of the film’s producer.
Star Trek 3 is released in theaters on July 8, 2016.
