Woody Allen is making his directorial debut on the small screen, as he is announced to have signed on to direct and write a half-hour comedy series for Amazon
Amazon Studios Vice President Roy Price said that they wanted the “Fading Gigolo” star for the project for his “visionary works.”
Woody Allen, in turn, joked: “I don’t know how I got into this. I have no ideas and I’m not sure where to begin. My guess is that Roy Price will regret this.”
The announcement came two days after Amazon’s show “Transparent” won the ‘best musical or comedy TV series’ and ‘best actor in a musical or comedy series’ for the show’s star Jeffrey Tambor at the Golden Globe Awards on Sunday, January 11.
The Woody Allen-directed sitcom is set for a 2016 debut.
