Cuba Gooding Jr. has landed his first TV series lead in the upcoming FX drama “American Crime.”
The actor has been cast as OJ Simpson in the first season of FX’s new series American Crime Story entitled “The People vs. O.J. Simpson” will focus on the 1995 murder trial of the infamous ex-footballer and is based closely to Jeffrey Toobin‘s 1996 book on the trial The Run of His Life.
Sarah Paulson, of American Horror Story, has been cast as prosecutor Marcia Clark in the debut season.
Producer Ryan Murphy, who co-created Glee and American Horror Story, said the new series does not yet have an official premier date but might debut in Jan. 2016.
Murphy adds that each season will dramatize trials that transfixed the public in real life, which means Cuba Gooding Jr. won’t probably be starring the second season.
