The planned second sequel to J.J. Abrams’ 2009 “Star Trek” is now again in trouble, as director Roberto Orci has quit the project.
Roberto Orci, who co-wrote the script for Star Trek 3 with Patrick McKay and J.D. Payne, took over her J.J. Abrams when the latter left to helm “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.”
According to Badass Digest, Paramount Studio bosses and Orci disagreed over the direction of the script.
Interestingly, “Star Trek 3” would’ve been the directorial debut of Roberto Orci, who now remains just a producer of the film.
Since the film is set to begin filming next spring, Paramount has already began finding a replacement, with Edgar Wright (“Scott Pilgrim vs. the World,” “Ant-Man”) at the top of the studio’s wish list to replace Orci.
