Warner Bros. has successfully assembled its team for the “Suicide Squad” after months of planning, and one official casting has us super-excited…and it’s no other than Jared Leto for the role of The Joker.
The official cast for David Ayer’s Suicide Squad has been revealed, and it contains numerous names already being thrown around online for weeks. Margot Robbie has landed the role of Harley Quinn, while Will Smith will give his twist as Deadshot, Tom Hardy as Rick Flagg, Jai Courtney as Boomerang, supermodel Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, and Jared Leto as the Joker.
The Academy-Award winning actor Jared has some big shoes to fill. The Joker was last portrayed by the late Heath Ledger, whose performance in Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight” earned him a posthumous Academy Award.
We’re pretty pumped that Warner Bros. chose Jared Leto for the role, since he’s basically made a lot of challenging portrayals recently (such as in “Dallas Buyers Club” and “Requiem for a Dream”), and we think he would give his own twist to the iconic Joker character.
Suicide Squad is now set for its release date of August 5, 2016.
