The lawsuit filed by Marvin Gaye’s family against T.I., Robin Thicke and Pharrell Williams will push through with a trial by jury.
An L.A. judge ruled that a trial by jury will be needed to decide whether or not the artists sampled music from Gaye’s hit song “Got To Give It Up” and infringing on its copyright.
T.I., Robin Thicke and Pharrell Williams tried to dissuade District Judge John A. Kronstadt from moving forward with a trial, but it didn’t work.
Marvin Gaye’s heirs are seeking damages, claiming that the three artists borrowed from “Got To Give It Up” along with his other song “After The Dance.”
