Weeks after news that FKA Twigs is dating Robert Pattinson, the up-and-coming singer/songwriter is fed up of the trolls and took to Twitter to say she is “genuinely shocked and disgusted” about the racism she’s been receiving.
FKA Twigs took to Twitter on Sunday night, addressing her haters. She said: “I am genuinely shocked and disgusted at the amount of racism that has been infecting my account the past week. Racism is unacceptable in the real world and it’s unacceptable online.”
Social media users had been harsh with FKA Twigs, calling her “n*gger” or “monkey” in the past. FKA Twigs said she had been dealing with racism all her life, being a daughter of a Jamaican father and a Spanish/English mother. She explained to Dazed magazine: “I never really saw anything wrong with how I looked, it was more that certain people pointed things out to you about yourself. Either your hair’s different, or the color of your skin, or your features.”
The 26-year-old singer added: “Half of my life I’ve had people staring at me because they think I’m funny-looking and ugly. The other half of my life I’ve had people staring at me because they think I’m fascinating.”
Twigs and Robert met through mutual friends. They made their relationship public earlier this month.
