Marvel confirms Evangeline Lilly to play Hope Van Dyne on Ant-Man

Marvel confirms Evangeline Lilly to play Hope Van Dyne on Ant-Man (1)

The role of Evangeline Lilly on “Ant-Man” has made hundreds of comic book fans confused, after two different names were released this week.

An official Marvel Studios press release confirms that Evangeline Lilly is playing Hope Van Dyne, after someone on the Marvel panel announced that her role was Hope Pym, a character better known as “Red Queen” in the MC2 Universe.

Evangeline Lilly will play Hope Van Dyne, NOT the daughter of Hank Pym (as in the comicbook version), while Corey Stoll will play Darren Cross, a.k.a. Yellowjacket, the antagonist of the film. The duo joins stars Paul Rudd (Scott Lang) and Michael Douglas (Hank Pym), along with director Peyton Reed, who have already been announced to be tied to the project.

Marvel’s Kevin Feige said of the recent casting: “We’ve been fans of Evangeline for years, and couldn’t be more pleased that she’s agreed to join us on Ant-Man’s journey to the big screen. We look forward to audiences learning more about her character when she joins forces with Hank Pym and Scott Lang in 2015. Corey brings depth to every role he plays. As a major part of the Ant-Man ensemble, we all wanted an actor who could be both cunning and sympathetic, and help create a character as dynamic as Marvel’s best antagonists.”

Marvel’s “Ant-Man” is set to be released in theaters July 17, 2015.
