Days after the 28-year-old actor was arrested during Broadway performance of Cabaret in New York City on June 26, Thursday, Shia LaBeouf is reportedly now seeking treatment.
It was initially reported that Shia checked into a Los Angeles-based rehab with X17.com stating that “Shia was nervous; he didn’t look good all morning. He was looking down and wasn’t even talking to his driver. It looked like he didn’t want to do it [rehab], but he knew he had to.”
But TMZ talked to Shia’s rep, who denied the reports, but said LaBeouf has begun to deal with his alcohol addiction through a 12-step program. The rep adds: “He has taken the first of many necessary steps toward recovery.”
LaBeouf was charged with harassment, disorderly conduct and criminal trespassing after smoking inside the theatre, slapping people’s bottoms midway through the show at Studio 54, and yelling offensive language at police officers as they tried to handcuff him.
Shia LaBeouf is expected to appear in court in relation to the charges on July 24.
