James Franco is accused of trying to pick-up a teenage girl via Instagram, with screenshots published online by the teen.
The incident occurred on Tuesday night, when the actor reportedly met a small-town Scottish girl named Lucy at his Broadway show, Of Mice and Men. After taking a picture with the actor, Franco told her “You Gotta tag me.” And so Lucy did.
Their conversation began online later that night with James asking where in New York she lived, hold old she was, if she had a boyfriend, and what her number was. Lucy then asked the 35-year-old actor to give her proof that he really was James Franco, so the actor sent a selfie holding a paper with ‘Lucy’ written on it and asked if he should rent a room.
Lucy won’t be 18 until May, so the conversation ended with her denying Franco’s invitation for a hook-up, but did upload all of their messages on Imgr.
The following morning, Franco appeared on Live With Kelly and Michael and explained his “bad judgment,” adding: “In my position, not only do I have to go through the embarrassing rituals of meeting someone, but sometimes it gets published for the world.”
Many people did find the whole thing weird, since it could just possibly be a marketing ploy to promote his film “Palo Alto,” where he plays a soccer coach in a relationship with one of his teenage players.
