R&B star Bruno Mars created a special scholarship program in his name that would send talented students to the Grammy Foundation’s summer music camp in the next five years.
Bruno Mars teamed up with officials from the Recording Academy and the Hawai’i Community Foundation to support aspiring musicians who are financially unable to acquire formal education through the Bruno Mars Scholarship Fund.
Since Bruno Mars is from Hawaii, applicants from his hometown will reportedly be given special preference. Each year until 2018, one lucky high school student will be selected to attend Grammy Camp with all of his/her tuition fees covered by the Bruno Mars fund.
In the past 10 years, Grammy Camp has provided training for youths interested in pursuing careers in the music industry. Deadline for applications for the 2014 training camp is March 31st. It will be held from June to August in four locations –
Nashville, Tennessee, St. Paul, Minnesota, Los Angeles and New York.
