Jennifer Lopez is reportedly going back to acting, as she lands a regular role in the upcoming NBC drama “Shades of Blue.”
JLo, who currently sits as a judge on the Ryan Seacrest-hosted FOX singing competition “American Idol,” will also work with Seacrest on the NBC series as he works as executive producer for “Shades of Blue.”
The series will see Lopez portraying single mother/detective Harlee McCord, who has been recruited to work undercover for the FBI’s anti-corruption task force.
When NBC announced details of the series, NBC Entertainment President Jennifer Salke said of JLo: She “is an extraordinary talent and life force” and “NBC is delighted to have her on board,” adding that: “We know that she will create this complicated character in a vivid way that will breathe new life into the cop show genre.”
JLo has dipped her fingers in producing, acting, singing, and a lot of other entrepreneurial activities. In films, she appeared on “Ice Age: Continental Drift,” “Maid in Manhattan,” “The Back-up Plan” and “What To Expect When You’re Expecting.” She also had guest appearances on TV shows “Will & Grace” and “How I Met Your Mother.”
Shades of Blue is set to air in the 2015/16 season.
