Sad news for Simon Cowell. His reality singing competition, “The X Factor,” is ending after just three seasons.
The news was announced by Fox and the show’s production companies, saying that the US edition of the singing contest won’t be returning this fall.
“X Factor” head judge and show creator Simon Cowell, who also served as a judge on “American Idol” for nine seasons, will be returning to the “X Factor” UK version this year instead.
“I’ve had a fantastic time over the last 12 years, both on ‘The X Factor’ and ‘American Idol,'” said Cowell in a statement. “And apart from being enough to find some amazing talent on the shows, I have always had an incredible welcome from the American public-most of the time!”
The show, which debuted in 2011, never garnered high ratings, nor was it able to produce a winner as successful those in “Idol.”
