Pharrell Williams is set to perform his song “Happy” at the Academy Awards, says the show’s producers.
Williams wrote the song for “Despicable Me 2,” and is as well nominated for an original song award. Other nominees for the statue are “Ordinary Love” from “Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom,” “Let It Go” from “Frozen” and “The Moon Song” from “Her”. The song “Alone Yet Not Alone,” which was from an obscure Christian historical drama, was disqualified from the nomination after its writer, Bruce Broughton, was caught doing illegal campaigning tactics.
The Oscars usually presented performances from all the nominated songs on the show, but not all the time. The Academy is also going to stage a special Oscar-week concert devoted to all the nominated scores and songs.
The Oscars will be hosted by Ellen DeGeneres on March 2, to be broadcasted live on ABC.
