Kanye West is at it again! During his Arizona gig, the rapper took time blasting the Grammy Awards that his two nominations for the 2014 awards ceremony are “patronizing.”
West played at the US Airways Center last night and voiced his disappointment with the US awards body for not including “Yeezus” in their Album of the Year category, adding that the nods he did receive – Yeezus for Best Rap Album and ‘New Slaves’ for Best Rap Song are “patronizing.”
Kanye began his rant, saying: ““I’m 36 years old and I have 21 Grammys. That’s the most Grammys of any 36 year old. Out of all of those 21 Grammys, I’ve never won a Grammy against a white artist… So when the Grammys nominations come out, and ‘Yeezus’ is the top one or two album on every single list, but only gets two nominations from the Grammys – what are they trying to say? Do they think that I wouldn’t notice? Do they think that some way, that I don’t have the power to completely diminish all of their credibility at this moment?”
The rapper concluded his rant with: “People come to me and they congratulate me on those two nominations. Fuck those nominations!”
Up for “Album of the Year” at the 56th annual Grammy Awards (which takes place on January 26, 2014 at the Staples Center in LA) are Daft Punk’s ‘Random Access Memories,’ Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Good Kid, M.A.A.D City’, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ ‘The Heist’, ‘The Blessed Unrest’ by Sara Bareilles and ‘Red’ by Taylor Swift.
