Producers of the hit ABC TV series “Scandal” are cutting down the number of episodes for its third season.
The network gave no official explanation for the cutback, but it’s safe to say the decision was made in response to the real-life pregnancy of leading lady Kerry Washington.
According to Deadline.com, the decision came because the show’s costume designers are finding it very hard to hide her pregnancy on the show. As a result, TV execs reportedly decided to cut down the 22 episodes to just 18.
Scandal airs the second part of its riveting winter finale next Thursday (which would make it 10 episodes), then the show would take a brief hiatus. The political drama would then have eight episodes remaining when the show returns on Feb. 27.
Washington is expecting her first child with husband Nnamdi Asomugha.
