Katie Couric is set to say goodbye to ABC News. The veteran news anchor is reportedly negotiating her exit package from the company in preparation for her move to Yahoo.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Couric is multi-tasking: finalizing a deal with Yahoo for an interview show to be featured on the website, while closing her deal with ABC News as a special correspondent and quitting her daytime talk show.
Katie’s contract for her talk show only included two seasons, with the third season set to be decided in December. But Couric’s role with ABC News involved a three-year contract, which she’ll be leaving with a year left.
An ABC News executive told THR about Couric’s decision: “Katie is an incredible journalist and this was an opportunity that she couldn’t pass up. Thanks to the powerful association between ABC News and Yahoo we know that Katie will continue to work closely with us and welcome her on our air anytime.”
