CBS is reportedly in talks for a ‘How I Met Your Mother’ spinoff, just before the last season of the original HIMYM comes to an end.

Deadline reports that CBS is in early talks with 20th Century Fox TV for a potential spinoff of its outgoing hit series. HIYMN co-creators and executive producers Carter Bays and Craig Thomas is bringing the spin-off to the table alongside ‘Up All Night’ creator Emily Spivey.

The spin-off, which is unofficially being called How I Met Your Father, focuses on a female spin on the original hit show. It will “feature a new group of New York friends and chronicle a female member of the group’s quest to meet her future husband.”

None of the actors/actresses from the original HIMYM will be featured on the spin-off, but it is expected that the characters will be introduced in the HIMYM series finale next year with only the gang’s favorite hangout MacLaren’s Pub be the link to the two sitcoms.
