The former “Partridge Family” star is facing felony charges, after being pulled over in upstate New York and arrested on suspicion of drunken driving on top of a previous DUI in Florida.
The 63-year-old star was reportedly in upstate New York early this morning outside Albany when he was pulled over for driving with his high beams on. Police said the Cassidy smelled of alcohol and was administered a field sobriety test, which he performed poorly. Cassidy’s blood-alcohol content was at .10, higher than the state’s legal limit of .08.
Rensselaer County District Attorney Richard McNally said that when arresting officer Tom Jones introduced himself, Cassidy said, “What’s new, pussycat?” a play on a song made famous by another Tom Jones. He was then booked, taken his mugshot and posted bail for $2,500.
David Cassidy now faces felony drunken driving charges because the star already had a prior DUI in Florida. He is due back to town court in September.
