‘The Real Housewives of New Jersey’ stars Joe and Teresa Giudice have pleaded not guilty to a number of federal fraud charges.
The reality TV stars with their attorneys appeared before a federal judge in Newark Wednesday afternoon to enter their not guilty pleas stemming from last month’s indictment.
On July 13, Teresa and Guiseppe “Joe” Giudice were charged with 39 counts of conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud, bank fraud, making false statements on loan applications and bankruptcy fraud. Prosecutors allege Joe Giudice also failed to file federal tax returns from 2004 to 2008.
Right now, the couple is free on 500,000 bond each, but was ordered to surrender their passports. Joe and Teresa are also prohibited from traveling outside of New Jersey and New York.
If convicted of the counts, the couple could face up to 30 years in prison. And Joe, who is not a U.S. citizen, could be deported back to Italy.
