It’s definitely R&B singer Robin Thicke’s time to shine, as he just landed his first No. 1 album Wednesday after his “Blurred Lines” topped the Billboard 200 album chart.
Since the single of the same album name is this summer’s biggest hit, it was inevitable that his sixth studio album would be selling like hotcakes. “Blurred Lines” sold 177,000 copies in its first week, according to figures from Nielsen SoundScan.
The album’s lead single “Blurred Lines” with collaborations from T.I. and Williams spent seven weeks at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart throughout the summer. It has sold 400,000 downloads this week alone, which totals a whopping 4.2 million digital downloads since its release in March.
The son of actors Alan Thicke and Gloria Loring, the 36-year-old Robin has been in the music industry for over a decade. His first album “A Beautiful World” debuted in 2003, but he has only achieved global success with the hit “Blurred Lines” and its naughty video.
