Actress Ashley Judd announced that she won’t be running for U.S. Senate to represent Kentucky against Republican Mitch McConnell.
The Oscar-winning actress and former member of The Judds made the announcement earlier in a Twitter post. Rumors about her plans to go to Senate sparked last week after she hinted deciding to join the roice.
A former resident of Kentucky, she now lives in suburban Nashville, although she had been spending the past weeks meeting with different Democratic leaders, including Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear.
To beat McConnell would be the biggest win of the Democrats in next year’s election.
His seat is among the 14 that the GOP has been defending while the Democrats are struggling to hold on to 21 to maintain their 55-45 advantage.
