Taylor Swift may have been in hot water lately for having her fan mail found in the dumpster, but during the weekend you couldn’t blame her for not getting hold of her letters-she was in Omaha to visit a cancer patient.
The country superstar visited 10-year-old fan Lauren Hacker, who has acute myelocytic leukemia. After posting a YouTube video urging her to visit the ailing patient, Taylor gave her word and did appear at Omaha Children’s Hospital and Medical Center to spend an hour with Hacker and her family. During their time together, the two shared their personal stories and jammed on a few songs too.
“Taylor was very impressed with both performances,” said Hacker’s father, Phil, who wrote about visit on the blog site CaringBridge. “I don’t mean ‘polite impressed’. I mean real impressed.”
Taylor also showered Hacker a few treats, including personally signed notebooks, photographs and guitar picks; she also wrote an autograph for Hacker’s brother, who is fond of playing the ukulele.
