Tina Fey is keeping herself busy, since her show “30 Rock” will be airing its finale Thursday… and she’s planning to go to Broadway for a musical version of the Lindsay Lohan-starred 2004 comedy “Mean Girls.”
At Sunday’s SAG Awards, Mean Girls writer and creator Tina Fey told E! News that turning the box office film into a musical is on her to-do list after “30 Rock” concludes on Jan. 31. She said, “I’m trying to develop it with my husband, who does all the music for ‘30 Rock’ and I think Paramount’s onboard.”
In “Mean Girls,” SNL alum Amy Poehler played the mother of Regina George, the leader of the mean girls. As the mom, Amy stole the show as “not” being the model parent. And guess who Tina Fey wants to play this part on Broadway. Why Mariah Carey of course! In fact, the funnylady has put Carey at the top of her wish list for the musical, saying: “Mariah seemed to really know all the characters,” in refer to Nicki Minaj and Carey’s cat-fight stunt as they judge American Idol this year.
