Barbara Walters gets chickenpox at age 83

Barbara Walters is already 83 years old…and she just got herself the chicken pox.

Just after falling and hitting her head during the Inauguration weekend, the veteran journalist is now sick in bed with the chicken pox.

Whoopi Goldberg announced the news on their show “The View” Monday, saying “She’d never had it as a child. So now she’s been told to rest, she’s not allowed any visitors and, we’re telling you, Barbara — no scratching.”

Joy Behar joked, “Barbara gets younger and younger every year. She’s like Benjamin Button. Now she’s going to a pediatrician at this age.” She also added, “This is what you get…for interviewing Honey Boo Boo.”

Walters was hospitalized two weeks ago for running a low-grade fever after her fall, but it turns out it was the first sign of chicken pox… and nothing serious.

Goldberg or their other co-hosts didn’t say when Walters will be back on the show, but she’ll probably recover in about two weeks, as normal chicken pox cases go.
