Natalie Portman, her choreographer husband Benjamin Millepied and their son Aleph are moving to the City of Lights. Millepied will begin his job as the head of the Paris Opera Ballet starting Oct. 15, 2014, and the family will be leaving Los Angeles to be with him.
Oscar winner Benjamin Millepied shared the news that he has been named the new director of the Paris Opera Ballet to The New York Times. He said, “I certainly knew about the position, but I also knew that there were candidates from within the company. I was surprised, but I felt very quickly that the artistic dialogue between us was an exciting one,” referring to Stéphane Lissner (who will become the Opera’s artistic director in 2015). Millepied adds, “After a while I did feel there was a really good chance I might get the position. Which made my head spin.”
Millepied also confirmed that he will be joined by her A-list actress wife Natalie Portman and their son when his new job begins.
Portman and Millipied met when he was choreographing “Black Swan,” which starred Portman and won her a best-actress Oscar for her ballerina role. The couple then welcomed their son in June 2011 and got married in a Jewish ceremony in front of family and friends in August 2012.
