Looks like all the wooing Kobe Bryant has been doing to win back his wife Vanessa has paid off. The couple announced their canceled divorce via Facebook and Instagram.
After a year-long split (during which Vanessa filed divorce papers), the couple is ready to give their marriage another shot. Vanessa Bryant posted on Instagram Friday: “We are pleased to announce that we have reconciled. Our divorce action will be dismissed. We are looking forward to our future together.”
The same day, before Lakers played against the Oklahoma City Thunder, Kobe confirmed the news via a Facebook status that read: “I am happy to say that Vanessa and I are moving on with our lives together as a family. When the show ends and the music stops, the journey is made beautiful by having that someone to share it with. Thank you all for your support and prayers! Much luv, Mamba out.”
The Bryants’ marriage got rocky after Kobe admitted to infidelity in 2003. The L.A. Lakers star was charged with sexually assaulting a woman in Colorado, even if he insisted that he thought the sex was consensual. Although the 19-year-old refused to get involved in the case (which resulted in the charges being dropped), Kobe’s reputation and his marriage to Vanessa got hit badly. At the time, Vanessa Bryant stood by her man, saying that the only thing Koby was guilty of was “the mistake of adultery.”
Kobe and Vanessa had a recommitment ceremony in 2005, but eventually filed divorce papers in December 2011, citing “irreconcilable differences” and asking for joint custody of their two daughters Natalia (9) and Gianna (6).
Vanessa and Kobe, who met at a video shoot in 1999 and were engaged 6 months later, were still seen together out at La Lakers games, dining out or with their kids.
