Britney Spears top Forbes Highest Paid Women in Music

Britney Spears has just taken over Taylor Swift’s reign, as the pop star/X-Factor judge leads the list of Forbes’ 2012 Highest Paid Women in Music.

Britney Spears, who bagged a $15 million deal for her judging gig on X-Factor, took home a whopping $58 million this year thanks to her successful “Femme Fetale” album and sales of her latest fragrance with Elizabeth Arden.

Taylor Swift (who topped last year’s Forbes list) only dropped a spot as she now takes #2 with $57 million due to her CoverGirl deal, latest tour and the debut of her fourth studio album “Red,” which has just gone triple platinum. For a 20-year-old – and the youngest lady included in the list – her achievements and earnings are pretty impressive.

At #3 is Rihanna (with $53 million) for her Nivea and Vita Coco endorsements, successful tour, and sales for her fragrance Reb’l Fleur, while Lady Gaga ranks closely at $52 million thanks to her tour ticket sales, album sales and earnings for her new perfume “Fame.”

Others included in the list is Katy Perry (with $45 million), Beyonce ($40 million), Adele ($35 million), Sade ($33 million), Madonna ($30 million) and Shakira ($20 million)

The Forbes figures represent earnings (from record sales, touring, endorsements, merchandise sales and other ventures) from May 2011 to May 2012 before management fees, legal costs and taxes.
