Justin Bieber’s “Baby” has ended its throne for YouTube’s most watched video. A new king has been crowned and it’s no other than Korean viral sensation PSY’s “Gangnam Style.”
PSY’s “Gangnam Style” has earned over 803,761,000 views since it was posted on July 15, 2012. Early Saturday, it beat out Justin Bieber’s “Baby,” which has 803,732,000 views since it was released on February 2010.
Aside from the ‘most viewed’ video, “Gangnam Style” has also made record for being the ‘Most Liked’ video ever to be posted on the video site. It now has a total of 5.3 million Likes and 323,000 dislikes (compared to “Baby”’s 1.4M Likes and 3.1M dislikes).
PSY tweeted Saturday morning, “#GangnamStyle just became the most watched video @YouTube!! #History.”
It was bound to happen, though. Since PSY posted the video, he has been invited to a lot of talk shows, entertainment shows, and even award shows (most recently at the American Music Awards performing alongside MC Hammer).
PSY’s success goes beyond his hit’s YouTube rankings. In September, he signed to Scooter Braun’s Schoolboy Records (also Bieber’s record label). “Gangnam Style” also peaked at No. 2 on the U.S. Hot 100.
