Despite worries that the Kristen Stewart/Robert Pattinson breakup a few months ago could cause ticket sales to spiral down, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 has opened with a huge $141.3 million this weekend.
Breaking Dawn Part 2 is the fifth and last installment of the box-office series The Twilight Saga. Although it didn’t break its own record, Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 earned pre-sale tickets of $30.4 million, before taking home another $71.9 million by the end of its first day in theaters. At the end of Sunday, the film has taken home a whopping $141.3 million, a few thousands less than the record-breaking New Moon that earned $142 million during its weekend opening.
Overseas, the Summit Entertainment film earned $199 million in estimated sales, giving the last Twilight flick an astounding $340 million global total.
