Halle Berry and her ex Gabriel Aubry has been battling it in court for the custody of their 4-year-old daughter Nahla since last year. On Friday, a Los Angeles judge ruled that the actress can’t live in France with her daughter.
Berry, who is currently engaged to French actor Olivier Martinez, has requested the move abroad earlier this year. She explained then that Paris is a safer location for Nahla to grow up in… citing paparazzi in Hollywood make their lives constantly in the public eye. But LA-resident Aubry has been fighting the request from the beginning, and wins this battle as the court sided with the model.
The 36-year-old Aubry and 46-year-old Berry dated for five years before splitting in 2010. Once custody issues began, their relationship got strained, particularly after Halle revealed Aubry’s “anger problems” and Aubry claimed Halle had a “demanding film schedule.”
When the custody battle reached an amicable agreement, Halle said in a statement, “Our issues were never about fighting for her. We both know a child needs both her parents. But what I want to say about it is sometimes, as a couple, you reach an impasse. We needed a court and a judge to help us work out some of the delicate issues, and I’m so happy we’ve arrived at that place.”
