With more and more actors, directors and other showbiz big names like Jon Hamm, Jeremy Renner, Daniel Craig, Jonah Hill and Christina Applegate speaking up against the paparazzi and celebrities that encourage their ways, Kim Kardashian is now defending her craft, calling reality TV a form of entertainment and announcing to the world that she’s “challenged” to be the first famous-for-being-famous celebrity to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Kim K spoke with V Magazine, where she defends her show, saying “reality television is still entertainment.” She explained, “It’s always funny to me when people say that I’m famous for being famous. I think it’s fascinating, because it’s still entertainment, you know? It’s fun to see the progression of that idea.”
The most famous Kardashian continued, “I’m not naïve to the fact that I’m not a singer or an actress or anything like that. I’ve never claimed to be anything that I’m not. I think [reality] is still a new form of entertainment that was kind of an unexpected thing.”
Kim even likened reality TV to rap music. She said, “It reminds me of rap music.
When rap music first came out, people were like, We don’t understand this, what is this, it’s just a fad. But rap music is definitely here to stay, and I think reality shows have proven they are as well,” adding “But when something is newer, people don’t really understand it.”
Kim has high hopes for this new form of entertainment that she believes there’s a chance for celebrities like her to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. She boasts, “I’m so competitive that I think that it would be a huge achievement and a goal that anyone would want. I would love to break that mold.”
