Funnygal Abby Elliott has landed a new gig in a hit sitcom, the first after her four-year Saturday Night Live stint.
EW reports that the former SNL cast member has signed on for a multi-episode arc on the upcoming season of How I Met Your Mother.
Executive producer Craig Thomas tells EW: “We’re thrilled to have the hilarious Abby Elliot joining us in an arc as Janeane, the craziest girl the HIMYM gang has ever encountered. And the strange, inexplicable phenomenon is: the crazier Janeane gets, the more attractive one of the gang finds her. It doesn’t end well.”
Abby Elliott will find a very familiar face on the cast members of HIMYM. Her real-life father Chris Elliott plays Lily’s (Alyson Hannigan) father on the show.
Elliot has been a member of the long-running show Saturday Night Live, where she made memorable Angelina Jolie and Anna Faris impressions. Just this month, Abby announced that she will not be returning to SNL, after working for four seasons on the show.
The eight season of How I Met Your Mother returns September 24. Abby Elliott’s first episode will reportedly air sometime in January.
