Zooey Deschanel has described her Emmy nomination as “a dream”.
The star has been recognised for her work in Fox’s New Girl in the ‘Lead Actress in a Comedy Series’ category.
Deschanel told Hollywood reporter, “It doesn’t matter what the medium is.”
“When this opportunity came with such an amazing group of people, I felt like it was totally worth it to commit myself.”
On the nomination, she added: “I didn’t want to assume anything, but I got the phone call and woke up. It’s this thing you dream about when you decided to become an actor. It’s a huge, incredible life moment.”
Deschanel went on to explain that she contacted her co-star Max Greenfield – who has been nominated for ‘Supporting Actor’ category – to congratulate him on his success.
“When he tested for our pilot, he had tested for like ten pilots the year before and been second for everything,” she said.
“It’s pretty exciting to see him succeeding and showing all of those people that they underestimated Max Greenfield.”
She added: “I have the best job in the world. That’s validation enough, but it’s really nice to have this too.”
