Chris Colfer has revealed that his Glee character, Kurt, was created especially for him after his failed audition to play Artie.
The star said that he originally tried out for the Fox show’s wheelchair-bound student – a role that eventually went to Kevin McHale – before creator Ryan Murphy saw potential in his real-life story.
He told The AP, “I was auditioning for the part of Artie, the kid in the wheelchair, and I didn’t get it, obviously. So that was it.”
“So they invented a character for me. They created Kurt specifically.
“There are two experiences in my life that I just cannot wrap my head around. That’s one. And the Golden Globes was the other. I just cannot believe they happened.”
The season four of Glee will feature Kurt following Rachel (Lea Michele) to New York and working with guest star Sarah Jessica Parker.
