HBO announced Monday that the network has picked up the vampire-themed hit series “True Blood” for a sixth season.
Although Alan Ball will be leaving the show after this season, and the series goes down a million viewers every year, HBO believes it still deserves another shot. Why not? True Blood remains the #1 cable show every Sunday.
The HBO vampire series stars husband-and-wife Stephen Moyer and Anna Paquin, as well as Alexander Skarsgård. For Alan Ball fans, don’t worry, because he will still be on the show, but will be taking a backseat as the show’s executive producer. “Nurse Jackie” writer Mark Hudis will be taking over as showrunner during season six. He isn’t new to True Blood either, Hudis has written the episode “Me and the Devil” on the show’s fourth season.
