Many music artists hop to the film industry, but only a few admit to being scared about a role. Rihanna recently revealed that she was “intimidated” by her “Battleship” role.
The singer admitted that she had reservations about taking on her first acting job, particularly since she will be working alongside other actors and actresses who had been in the film industry for years.
Rihanna sat down with her Battleship co-stars Taylor Kitsch and Brooklyn Decker for an MTV interview, where Rihanna was asked whether she was excited to hit the big screen. She answered, “I’ll answer this, because it’s probably uncomfortable for them to say no, but I was the one that was intimidated. There was nothing for them to be intimidated about. I was the wreck. I was a wreck, just like, scared to s**t. Especially when Liam Neeson showed up to set.”
Even if she was scared about the acting role, she said the experience was worth it, explaining “You know, we have a mutual respect for each other’s industry. I was walking into this as an amateur – a complete amateur.” Rihanna also revealed she developed a bond with Kitsch while filming: “I didn’t know anything and I had a good team to learn from. I watched them, and especially Taylor, ’cause we did a lot of scenes together and he would always offer me advice.”
As for future films, Rihanna is rumored to be joining the cast of “The Fast and the Furious 6,” but no confirmations has been reported yet.
