Will Ferrell dressed up as his “Anchorman” character on Conan O’Brien’s TBS show “Conan” to announce that a sequel for his cult comedy film will have a sequel.
Ferrell, who wore Ron Burgundy’s trademark burgundy leisure suit, surprised Conan and his guests as he entered playing a flute solo. Burgundy then told Conan, “I like to keep my chops up, jam with the cats here.”
After his performance, he told the crowd, “I want to announce this to everyone here in the Americas. To my friends, in Spain, Turkey, and the U.K., including England … as of 0900 Mountain Time, Paramount Pictures and myself, Ronald Joseph Aaron Burgundy, have come to terms on a sequal for ‘Anchorman.” It is official, there will be a sequel to ‘Anchorman.’”
Ferrell will again be co-writing the sequel with the film’s director Adam McKay. Stars Steve Carell and Paul Rudd are both expected to return, with Judd Apatow as producer.
Production is slated to begin at the end of the year.
