Longtime couple Jennie Garth and Peter Facinelli is officially on their way to become exes, as Peter filed divorce papers and Jennie answered with her petition in Los Angeles courts.
Both filings came Wednesday afternoon, two weeks after the couple announced they are ending their 11-year marriage. Both are seeking joint custody of their three daughters.
In the documents filed by 38-year-old Facinelli, he cited “irreconcilable differences.” It also indicated that the couple separated on January 11, over three months after they announced it publicly.
Although Jennie Garth has been speaking up about the split, saying that her future is currently unknown explaining, “You get the rug pulled from under you. I have no landscape of what my future will look like, where before I had something that I can count on,” she also filed papers that day.
Garth even spoke with People, saying she was “very resistant” to the split, adding that she “didn’t want it to happen” and it took her “some time to come to peace with it.” She explained that their schedules and Peter’s “Twilight” tour took a toll on their marriage.
While Peter continues to promote the last “Twilight” film, Garth has a new reality show called “Jennie Garth: A Little Bit Country,” premiering April 20 on CMT.
