Jimmy Kimmel To Host the 2012 Emmys

Late-night host/funnyman Jimmy Kimmel is set to host the 64th Primetime Emmy Awards.

Jimmy Kimmel, who is the executive producer and star of his show “Jimmy Kimmel Live!, had landed the hosting gig at the Emmy Awards ceremony on September 23 at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.

It will be the first time for Jimmy Kimmel to host the Emmy Awards, but it didn’t take him long to joke about his gig. He told the Associated Press on Monday, “I hope to be able to do for the Emmys this year what Eddie Murphy did for the Oscars,” jokingly referring to the comedian who pulled out as host of this year’s Oscar ceremony.

Kimmel’s talk show rivals David Letterman, Jay Leno and Conan O’brien and Jon Stewart have all had their turn to host the Emmys in the past.

Apparently, once Jimmy Kimmel landed the hosting job for next month’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner, the big guys at the Emmys also followed suit.
