Katy Perry has said that gaining five number ones from her Teenage Dream album feels like a small piece of history.
The Fireworks singer managed to match a record set by Michael Jackson and become the first female artist to achieve five number ones from a single album earlier this week when her latest track ‘Last Friday Night’topped the Hot 100.
In a statement released by Perry, she said, Hitting number one is always a great moment, but when it turns into a small piece of history, you’re reminded of how many millions of people are connected to each other by even one tiny event.
“Thank you to everyone who helped make this happen. Ever since I was 9 years old, singing into my hairbrush, I’ve dreamed very big dreams, but today is bigger than my dreams. What a nice first birthday present for Teenage Dream!”
