Olympic skier Jeret Peterson, who famously scored the silver in Vancouver last year for his use of a tricky move called “The Hurricane”, has committed suicide in Lambs Canyon, Utah.
Peterson, who had been working towards a business degree in Salt Lake City, shot himelf in the head outside of his car in the isolated canyon over this weekend. He called police and left a suicide note.
His struggles with alcoholism and depression were well known, and he gave several interviews about them both before and after his successful run in Canada last winter.
He was arrested last week for a DUI in Las Vegas, which might have contributed to the timing of this tragedy.
Peterson was 29-years-old.
